Raphaël Marchal
The Domaine de l’Envol is a young winery, located in Ingersheim.
It is the result of the union of 2 Alsatian winegrower families: one from Pfaffenheim with Raphaël Marchal; the other in Ingersheim with the family of Bernard and Manuella Hirsinger.
Raphael, Daniel and Catherine and their parents Bernard and Manuella joined forces in 2016. They then began a shift towards the status of harvester with the ultimate goal of selling 100% of their harvest in bottles.
This new estate thus extends over 20 ha spread over 2 sectors, therefore offering a beautiful mosaic of terroirs: the Grands Crus Steinert, Florimont and Wineck-Schlossberg and the localities Bergweingarten, Steinweg, Dorfburg and Letzenberg.
They build an ecological building made of wood, wood wool and cork that comes out of the ground in almost self-construction, of which they can be proud.
In the vineyard: Their vineyard has been organic since 2010. They have been applying the principles of biodynamics since 2013 in order to strengthen the natural defenses of the vine.
Their first vinification in this new winery dates from 2017 with a fully manual harvest at optimal maturity.
The grapes are gently pressed there for long hours. The wort is then housed in magnificent hundred-year-old barrels, in stainless steel vats or barrels.
Fermentation takes place spontaneously, in indigenous yeasts. Rearing then continues between 8 to 12 months on total lees. Little see no sulfite used.
In order to produce dry, expressive and characterful wines, the Hirsinger-Marchal family also offers wines from maceration and infusion. Similarly, it produces Pet Nat Muscat and Pinot Gris/Pinot Noir, every year highly anticipated.
In summary, the Domaine de l’Envol is a young farm, dynamic and welcoming associates, authentic wines, which resemble them … sincere, natural, elegant expressing their terroirs; which earned them the 2nd place in the competition “Vignerons et Terroirs d’avenir 2018”.
